Training session for Peabody
Pam Yelland was delighted to be involved with a Training Session for Peabody Trust at their Head Office on 27th. May 2004, attended by approximately 20 members of their staff. It gave her the opportunity to put faces to names in many cases.
The training took the form of a lecture on Assured Shorthold Tenancies with question and answer sessions at the end of each section and it covered:
- the creation of ASTs both pre- and post- Housing Act 1996, the exceptions and the pitfalls in relation to both;
- the various forms of notice and the pitfalls; and
- the different forms of proceedings
In particular it highlighted the advantages of periodic over fixed term ASTs and as a consequence the Trust are considering changing their standard form of agreement from fixed term to periodic ASTs.
A spokesperson for the Trust said, "the content of the course was very good and the after-course service excellent".
